Mountain bike holiday in New Zealand

This nine-day South Island road trip begins in seaside Christchurch and ends in Queenstown, the crown jewel of kiwi mountain biking in the heart of the Southern Alps. In between you’ll ride and visit a mind-boggling array of the South Island's best trails including the spectacular West-Coast, towering Mount Cook, the semi-arid town of Alexandra, remote Craigieburn, the Central Otago and Queenstown. Featuring a helicopter drop, a cosy night in a remote alpine hut, a wine tasting and seven days of spectacular singletrack riding led by professional local leaders; if you’ve dreamt of the ultimate New Zealand trip wait no longer.
Day 1: Welcome to Christchurch, ride the Port Hills. — 12 km
Welcome to a slice of paradise. Our ride today will take us up into the hills above Christchurch with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
Day 2: Ride the Wharfedale Track, transfer to Hamner Springs. — 20 km
Off to the foothills of the Southern Alps and the Wharfedale Track that track weaves through classic native forests with views of the Canterbury plains.
Day 3: Ride Reefton & helicopter into Paparoa Wilderness. — 15 km
Off to the wild West Coast via the spectacular Lewis Pass. An afternoon spin in Reefton then load the heli to fly into the Paparoa Range and our backcountry hut perched on a stunning ridge.
Day 4: Ride West Coast backcountry, transfer to Craigieburn. — 13 km
Start the day with a 1500m descent through the jungle of the West Coast’s native bush. Then transfer to the Craigieburn Mountains, home to some of NZ’s sweetest singletrack.
Day 5: Ride amazing Craigieburn, transfer to Mackenzie Country. — 20 km
Today we ride classic trails like Dracophyllum & Hogsback that wind through an untouched wilderness. Afternoon transfer to the picturesque landscapes of the Mackenzie Country.
Day 6: Ride Lake Pukaiki & Alexandra. Wine tasting in Central Otago. — 30 km
Ride on a working sheep station overlooking the mighty Mount Cook and turquoise waters of Lake Pukaiki. Then it's off to the Central Otago, home to award-winning pinot noirs and superb riding in a desert landscape.
Day 7: Ride Alexandra, transfer to Queenstown. — 30 km
Ride the arid rocky landscapes of Alexandra then a short drive through the impressive Kawarau River Gorge. Afternoon sample of Queenstowns local trails.
Day 8: Ride Queenstown, Rude Rock & Skippers Cayon. — 28 km
Shuttle to the top of Coronet Peak to rip the famous Rude Rock track before descending into Skipper’s Canyon. Afternoon to explore this beautiful lakeside town before our final dinner celebrations.
Day 9: Transfer to Queenstown Airport for flights home. Goodbye!
Farewell, as we transfer you to the airport or your hotel in Queenstown.
